NOTTINGHAM-BASED charity We R Here, can continue to fund support to young adults and families thanks to £2,025 donation from Star Trust.
We R Here charity plans to use the generous contribution to deliver 45 sessions of one to one counselling at £45 per hourly session. The charity supports children, young adults and families through counselling, group sessions and family activities.
A We R Here service user, said: “We R Here were here for our son when he was at his lowest and most vulnerable. After self-harming from undiagnosed autism, anxiety and pressure from school we turned to We R Here for counselling.
“The counsellor helped him cope with his autism diagnosis, pressure at school and anxiety by enabling him to talk about his problems and really listen to him away from school and home. Having someone who he could talk to, made a real difference to his mental and emotional health.”
We R Here, established in 2011, has since seen individuals exiting therapy having greater confidence, stronger emotional resilience and awareness and an increased sense of personal self-esteem.
Hilary Brown, CEO of We R Here charity, added: “We are truly grateful for this donation as it will help us increase the number of counselling sessions we provide, which will enable us to support more people”.
Lisa Cawdron, board member from the Star Trust said “It’s great that we can support a charity like We R Here, as the need for family counselling is there and I am thrilled that we can help this service to continue”.
The We R Here counselling service receives no statutory funding and relies heavily on its own fund-raising efforts, individual grants and donations. Over the past year they have seen a demand rise as statutory and voluntary services diminish.
The charity enables its service users to gain a new perspective and work through serious issues that have negatively impacted their emotional well-being. For more information please follow the link: http://werhere.org.uk/.
